Terms of sale
These terms apply to purchases on the Able Exams store only. They are separate from the terms of the Able Rugby app. Last updated: 17 October 2026.
1. Who we are
Able Exams is operated by Able Directory (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa (Registration No. 2017/325344/07). Owner: Stefan Potgieter.
Registered address: [enable JavaScript to see our address]. There is currently no office. We operate out of Die Wilgers, Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa.
Email: [enable JavaScript to see our email address]. Website: www.abledirectory.com/AbleExams. We deal with customers by email only and have no telephone line. We accept legal notices at the same address and email.
2. What you are buying
A licence to use one PDF study guide (or more, in a bundle or the complete collection) for your own studies. It is a digital file, delivered by email and download. Nothing is posted to you.
Every theory guide also comes with the free Core Learner Checklist (a PDF in the same language). It is part of the same licence and has no separate price.
You must be 18 or older to buy. If the guide is for a learner under 18, a parent or guardian must make the purchase.
3. How a purchase works
1. Choose a guide, enter your name (it is printed on your copy) and your email address, and accept these terms and the disclaimer. Check the email address carefully: your files are sent to it.
2. You are sent to PayFast to pay. You are not charged until you pay there, and you can stop at any time before that.
3. When PayFast confirms your payment we email your files. Prices are in South African rand. If you typed the wrong email address, write to us with your order number and we will send your files to the right address.
4. Delivery
After your payment is confirmed we send you two emails: a payment confirmation, and a second email with your files attached as PDFs. This usually takes a minute or two. That email also has download links for each file; they work for 7 days and up to 10 downloads in total. The page you return to after paying has download buttons too, for 24 hours.
If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder, then use "Resend my files" on the store with the email address you paid with. We will send the files again, with new download links, whenever you ask.
5. Your copy is made out in your name
Each file is made out for you. Your name and order number are printed at the bottom of the pages, and your name, email address and order number are stored in the file's properties. This lets us trace a copy that is shared without permission.
6. How your order is stored
When you buy, your order is saved in a database that belongs to the Able Exams store only. It is separate from the Able Rugby app and is protected by its own password. It is kept on our hosting provider's database server.
What is saved: your name and email address, your order number, what you bought and the price, whether the payment went through and PayFast's reference for it, when you ticked the box to accept these terms and the disclaimer (with the internet address and browser details your request came from, as proof of that), when your files were emailed or downloaded, and which emails we sent you.
What is not saved: your card details (PayFast handles those, we never see them), and a copy of your stamped PDF (it is made again each time it is sent).
Your order is kept for seven years, because we must keep our accounting records. Attempts that were never paid for are deleted after 30 days. See the privacy notice for the full details and how to ask what we hold about you.
We count visits to our pages in daily totals. We do not store IP addresses or use cookies for this.
7. Cancellation and refunds
Because every copy is a digital file, supplied straight away and made out in your name, the seven-day cooling-off right that applies to some online purchases does not apply to it (Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, section 42(2)). For the same reason we do not give refunds, returns or exchanges if you change your mind, buy the wrong guide or language, or are unhappy with a result (the pass refund offer below is the one exception). Check what you are buying before you pay.
If something is wrong: if the file never reaches you, is damaged or cannot be opened, or is not the product you paid for, email us and we will fix it or refund you.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other law.
8. Refund if the learner does not pass CAT
If the learner who used your guide does not pass Computer Applications Technology (CAT), we will refund what you paid for that order. This offer applies only to orders paid before 08:00 (South African time) on 13 October 2026, the morning of the CAT practical examination, and to orders for the theory guides paid before 14:00 (South African time) on 29 October 2026, the afternoon of the CAT theory examination. It is about the learner's final CAT mark for the 2026 National Senior Certificate (NSC), as shown on their official National Senior Certificate or Statement of Results issued by the Department of Basic Education. It does not apply to the mark for one paper, a school or preliminary mark, or any other subject, and a school report card is not accepted as proof.
A pass means a final CAT mark of 30% or more. A final CAT mark below 30% qualifies for a refund.
To claim, email [enable JavaScript to see our email address] (or simply reply to your payment confirmation email) with your order number and a clear copy or photo of their official National Senior Certificate or Statement of Results issued by the Department of Basic Education, showing the learner's name and final CAT mark. The marks are expected to be released in January 2027. Your claim must reach us on or before 28 February 2027. We cannot refund a claim that reaches us after that date. The document must be sent by the learner (if 18 or older) or by the learner's parent or guardian, who by sending it agrees that we may use it to check the claim.
We refund the full amount you paid for that order (a bundle counts as one order), through PayFast, back to the payment method you used, once we have checked the document. We use the document only to check your claim and delete our copy once the claim is settled. We keep the record of the refund.
When we refund an order, we ask you to stop using the guides from that order and to delete your copies. We cannot check this, so we rely on you.
This is a money-back offer only. It is not a guarantee of any mark or pass, and the guides remain study aids.
9. Supplied as it is
The guides are study aids, supplied as they are, with no guarantee of any mark, result or pass (the pass refund offer above is a money-back offer, not a guarantee). The disclaimer on page 3 of each guide, shown at checkout and repeated below, forms part of these terms. To the extent the law allows, it limits our responsibility for what happens when you use the guides.
10. Copyright and your licence
The guides are copyrighted. You may read them on your own devices and print a copy for your own use.
You may not copy, share, upload, sell or give the file to anyone else, and you may not remove the name stamped on it. If you do, we may withdraw your access and take further steps.
11. Payment
Payment is made in South African rand through PayFast. Able Directory (Pty) Ltd is not registered for VAT, so the prices include no VAT. We never see or store your card details.
12. Problems and complaints
If something is wrong with your order, email [enable JavaScript to see our email address] and quote your order number. We will reply as soon as we can, normally within two working days.
If we cannot sort it out, you may contact the National Consumer Commission.
13. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Able Directory (Pty) Ltd and the author are not liable for any loss or damage that follows from using the guides, as set out in the disclaimer.
14. Law and changes
These terms are governed by South African law. The terms in force on the day you buy are the ones that apply to your purchase.
